English Dub Review: Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs “I Love Facades”
Overview
Julius and the idiots attempt to rescue Leon, and Marie crumbles on the front line.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, Trapped in a Dating Sim raises the stakes as the Principality Empire launches a devastating attack on the Kingdom, leaving Leon caught between escaping and joining the fight. Meanwhile, Marie’s situation finally collapses when she is pushed beyond her limits and forced to confront the consequences of pretending to be the Saint. The proceedings also give the five former rivals a surprisingly entertaining moment as they put aside their differences to help Leon, and thankfully, some of the humor actually lands, providing a welcome break from the escalating conflict.
What also works particularly well is how the episode brings several long-running storylines together while giving Leon another meaningful reason to reconsider where he stands. His hesitation feels believable, especially after everything the Kingdom has put him through, but the people who have supported him remind him that he has more to fight for than he initially realizes. Marie also gets a much-needed reality check, while the increasingly chaotic divergence from the original game timeline makes the conflict feel more unpredictable without relying entirely on action. Even the comedy works better here, with the former rivals’ reluctant teamwork giving their characters some amusing moments without completely undercutting the seriousness of the situation.
Overall, this was one of the stronger episodes of the season, balancing tension, character development, and comedy while pushing the story into its next major phase. The pacing remains brisk, but the escalating conflict feels consequential, and Leon’s eventual decision provides a satisfying push toward the role he was always destined to play. With so many storylines now converging, it’ll be interesting to see where the series takes things from here.
