English Dub Review: The Exiled Heavy Knight Knows How to Game the System “Ruche the Pierrot”
Overview
Elymas begs Ruche to join his party so he can use her skills to find the item he needs.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, Cline agrees to transfer Ruche to Elymas, dismissing Reiss’s suspicions that Elymas may have recognized something valuable in her abilities. After being treated poorly by her former party, Ruche is finally given a chance to prove herself when Elymas recruits her for an entirely practical reason: her incredible luck-based skills. What follows is a fun introduction to their new partnership, as Elymas quickly realizes just how useful Ruche can be and takes her into the Angel’s Playbox dungeon to help her level up and earn a massive amount of gold.
Ruche is easily the highlight of this episode. Her energetic and unpredictable personality provides a much-needed contrast to Elymas’s more serious demeanor, while her growing confidence makes her an entertaining addition to the party. The episode also does a good job showing how badly her former teammates underestimated her, even if some of the RPG mechanics surrounding stats and skills can feel overly complicated. Unfortunately, the presentation continues to be held back by pacing issues, including repeated flashbacks, reused crowd and scenery shots, and noticeable recycling of animation from earlier episodes.
Overall, this episode was an improvement thanks largely to Ruche’s introduction and the chemistry she brings to Elymas’s party. Her luck-based abilities give the story a new direction while her personality makes the journey considerably more entertaining, and it is satisfying to see someone who was previously overlooked finally get the opportunity to show her worth. The recycled footage and sluggish pacing remain frustrating distractions, but with Ruche now in the party, there is plenty of reason to see where this new adventure leads.
