OUR TAKE

Bundle episode review this time, and it actually kinda works out because it covers the same multi episode incident! Also there was a break for the dub last week so this week has a double episode release, but we’re reviewing three because who’s counting. And in true Reincarnated as a Slime fashion, it’s another big board room meeting with a lot of talking…until it isn’t! Rimuru arrives to talk to the Council of the West regarding their invitation for Tempest to join them, not knowing the Mariabel’s doing with numerous traps ready to spring. Luckily, Rimuru is not so easily deceived and spots the initially unreasonable demands from the council as a sign they are mostly under mental control. From there, things only continue to escalate as Prince Albert Elric, who approached Hinata previously, attempts to coerce the council into taking Tempest, the entire country of monsters, as slaves, but with the mental control removed most everyone is against it. This just leaves for Mariabel’s sniper to try and take out Albert with a warping bullet to try and frame Rimuru, but even that is thwarted and the sniper is captured and even peads to follow Rimuru for saving her.

So, now Rimuru is well aware of Mariabel and her grandfather as a force to look out for, her method for getting rid of witnesses and loose ends out of the way has been identified and removed, and now Rimuru and Tempest have the allyship and resources of the Council of the West to combat them should they try to strike again. Yeah…a pretty weak showing for Mariabel after half a dozen episodes of looking like a strong and malicious entity in the background with plans within plans. And as much as I do support Rimuru and his allies on principle, I would definitely rather they have some challenging obstacles and opponents than not. This is obviously not the last of we’ll see of Mariabel or her forces, but I was kinda expecting her to look this defeated and pouty by the twelfth episode AT THE EARLIEST, not now. I sure hope she can somehow maintain the sinister air about her that she has in the ED, otherwise this is going to be a pretty boring five part season. Glad to see a lot of main characters got to contribute at least, that doesn’t always happen this way. See you next time for a review of ONE episode!
