English Dub Review: In the Clear Moonlit Dusk “You on the Night of the Festival”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
The day of the festival is here, and Yoi and Kohaku finally come clean about their feelings.
OUR TAKE
It looks like the trial period for dating has come to an end, and Yoi and Kohaku have decided to renew their subscription. We’ve gone into detail about both of their mindsets going into this relationship, more so with Yoi as we have been in her head more often. She’s not someone who is used to having people, boys specifically, be interested in her and hasn’t built up an idea of how to deal with that. And a lingering question within her is whether she just wants boys to be be into her or if she wants Yoi specifically, which it looks like she has found the answer to, as she reflects on how her doubts and anxieties were consistently tempered or blown away by his perceived confidence and positivity…though that would only lead to more confusion about whether he’s like that with everyone or actually wants her. Which in turn causes confusion for HIM as she is still so hesitant around him when he’s actually being genuine in his feelings, causing a feedback loop anxiety and missed signals that only grows in tension as things go on, not helped by other people also interested in each of them. Isn’t love grand?
Well, it seems this time we get a bit more insight into Kohaku’s own history with love, as while he has dated before, he’s more used to girls thinking they’ll get things from him by dating him than actually being interested in him as a person. We see one girl ask him out, only to then just brag about how rich he is to other girls, while another girl tells him about this but is clearly trying to get him to like her so she can do something similar, and so on. So you can see how he got pretty disillusioned with dating until he met Yoi, who doesn’t treat him like this and was instantly striking to him in how she carried herself. And after so much time getting in their own heads about all of this stuff, the two finally meet at the festival, with Kohaku rushing to Yoi upon seeing her and abandoning another hanger on girl so that the two of them can finally confess how much they want the other and officially begin going out as a committed couple. Which leaves us with four more episodes to see how they handle that as we enter the final third of the season!

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
