English Dub Review: An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess “An Observation Log of a Self-Proclaimed Villainess as a Wife.”
Overview:
It’s been two years, and the day of Cecil and Bertia’s wedding ceremony has arrived. Believing that Bertia deserves to be the happiest bride in the world, Cecil works hard to fulfill her every wish. Watched over by family and friends, their ceremony proceeds in a way that is uniquely their own.
Our Take(Spoilers):
I’m not 100% certain, but from everything I can see, not only is this the final episode, but I think it’s the ending to the light novel as well. If that’s true, it’s both a good and bad thing. The reason it’s good is that we actually got a finale and conclusive ending, and it was a happy ending. It’s bad because this was one of the better shows of this genre, and I would honestly like to see more, so I would be disappointed if we don’t get more.
Bertia had some things that she wanted to have done for her wedding. They’re things that we’re used to as standard things that happen during a wedding, but the people of this world would not know of them. Things like tossing a bouquet, feeding each other wedding cake, and putting the rings on each other’s fingers are a couple of examples. These ideas were such a hit that many nobles sent Bertia letters asking for wedding planning advice. This led Bertia to make a magazine about bridal things, and I love that for her.
Another thing that will be disappointing if there isn’t a second season is what happened after the credits rolled. There was a post-credits scene where Bertia has something to tell Cecil, and when she tells him, we only see her lips move and don’t get to hear it. If I had to guess, she was telling him that she’s pregnant, but why wouldn’t they let us hear? Plus, if that is the case, I would love to see more of this series, seeing Cecil and Bertia as parents.
I’m very excited to talk about this show with my season review. This was the type of show that makes me grateful for this job because I don’t think I would have chosen to watch this show. This was one of my favorite shows of the summer because of how it handled the romance. While I wish we had gotten some progress a little sooner, there were legitimate story reasons, so I’ll give it a bit of a pass.
