English Dub Review: The Banished Court Magician Aims to Become the Strongest “The True Floor Boss”
Overview
Alec and his party battle a dullahan boss. Meanwhile, the very same prince who arrogantly fired Alec in the first episode is learning the hard way how much.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, the story deepens as Regulus’s past decisions, which involved being a dick to Alec since the first episode, have now come back to bite him in the ass as the royal court’s political unease mirrors the dangers of the dungeon, revealing how arrogance and misunderstanding can fracture even those sworn to the same cause. Regulus’s stubborn ambition contrasts sharply with Alec’s quiet resolve, while the king’s introspection adds depth to the ongoing conflict, highlighting the cost of clinging to status over talent & understanding. Meanwhile, Alec and his pals are faced with one hell of a challenge where Loki steps in a very unexpected way…
Visually and tonally, the episode maintains a sense of intensity and unease, balancing moments of strategy and introspection with bursts of action. Loki and Ornest inject energy and tactical ingenuity into the chaos, their exchanges offering glimpses of camaraderie and resolve. While the pacing sometimes falters under extended dialogue and uneven direction, the episode’s atmosphere remains serious and reflective, anchored by themes of loyalty, pride, and inner conflict. Despite its structural stumbles, the story’s emotional and moral core still shines through, giving weight to each character’s struggle and choice.
Overall, this is a thoughtful yet uneven installment that weaves moral tension, introspection, and action into a quietly compelling narrative. Alec’s calm sincerity contrasts with Regulus’s stubborn arrogance, while Loki and Ornest’s insight brings balance to the conflict. Though the pacing and direction stumble at times, *Banished Court Magician* remains grounded through its emotional depth and layered exploration of understanding, growth, and the fragile harmony between strength and empathy.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
