English Dub Review: Trigun Stargaze “Reunion”

Overview:

The crew, with its latest new member, Livio, regroups at Hopeland to kick off their plan to stop Knives.

Our Take:

When Wolfwood fought with Livio, I didn’t think it would have a happy ending. That isn’t the vibe this show is going for in most cases. Anything good that happens comes with consequences, usually. These consequences have resulted in people dying up until now. Getting a little bit of happiness without having to sacrifice someone was nice. Livio deserved to live, and getting to see him and Wolfwood get the chance to act like brothers again was something I didn’t know I needed.

I’m going to be honest, I don’t remember if Earth was ever mentioned in the first season. It was mentioned in this episode, and it looks like a group from Earth is coming to rescue people. I wonder what Earth society is like now in this far-flung future. I find that sci-fi stories that portray Earth in the future can be one of the most fascinating types of stories to me. We didn’t see any people, just spaceships so I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t look “human” anymore but I have no idea what to expect.
