English Dub Review: Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture “Reset”

Overview:

The SSS are devastated and Rozé is in a hopeless situation. They receive intel about a proposed peace.

Our Take:

This episode was mostly good but I need to get something off my chest first. I understand that we have to suspend some disbelief when we watch anime but the way characters die sometimes makes no sense. If you’ve watched anime for a while you know what I’m talking about, someone could have a crater in their chest and still have a conversation for fifteen minutes somehow. But this episode might have crossed the line. To avoid being put under Sakuya’s Geass, this scientist shot himself in the head. That makes sense, that will stop it from working for sure, and it will end your life too but hey. But in no way would you be able to talk to someone for two minutes afterward I mean c’mon.

What was refreshing was now that the cat’s out of the bag when it comes to Sakuya and Ash I thought the romance would either go away or at least be put on the backburner. Finding out the girl you love was posing as your brother will do that after all. Ash couldn’t tell it was her but was complaining about not getting the girl from the shop’s contact info. I thought this awkwardness would last for a while but luckily, Sakuya cleared up the confusion right away, now I just hope it leads somewhere.

A lot of awful things are happening around the world with these creepy robots that look like they’re blending humans for energy. What is awesome about this is we got a lot of cameos that I hope turn into more. Not only did characters from the original series make an appearance but there were even characters from Code Geass: Akito the Exiled which I think is a massively underrated spinoff, I hope all of these characters get more screentime coming up.
