English Dub Review: Skeleton Knight in Another World “Infiltrating the Slave Market! In Search of the World’s Evil”

Before we get into this week’s episode of Skeleton Knight…I need to get something off of my chest, and it only came up today due to sheer laziness and lack of wanting to deal with two devices while writing this review.

Crunchyroll’s website has got to be the absolute worst. This trashcan of a website seems to be running on the same tech seen in anime pirating sites. This dumpster fire website has low grade players, low bitrate, and it doesn’t matter if you’re using Chrome, Firefox, or Opera, you’re not streaming the player to your television. Thanks, Crunchyroll, for being a sizable downgrade from Funimation, and even Daisuki (remember that site?). Anyway, if Sony wanted to use Crunchyroll as the means of delivery for anime content going forward, they should have just taken Funimation’s website, and rebrand it. As is, this site is the absolute worst. And don’t get me started on Crunchyroll’s storefront.

Now that I am done trashing a website I can’t stand using, let’s get into the meat and potatoes, and talk about “Infiltrating the Slave Market! In Search of the World’s Evil.”

“Infiltrating the Slave Market! In Search of the World’s Evil” was a different avenue this week. The episode was very lowkey, and featured a lot of plot and subterfuge. We get into more of the underlying ties in the plot, where you see the elven slave trade, and how deep the nefarious means of Lord Tryton du Diento really goes.

Along the way, there is a new ally, and it looks like it’s a catgirl ninja. After unsuccessfully attacking our skeleton man, Arc, this mysterious ninja gives him slave contracts, as well as information on where the elves are being held captive, as well as two more slaves being held in the lord’s manor. There’s a lot more going on, like Danka, but I skipped him, because he was the only useless part of “Infiltrating the Slave Market! In Search of the World’s Evil”. He was a foil to Arc like Ariane was prior to befriending Arc. Danka didn’t amount much, and there was nothing that happened that he was necessary for. I’m sure he’ll come around later on, but he was not needed here.

“Infiltrating the Slave Market! In Search of the World’s Evil” feels like a very compact, to the point episode this week. There was one driving force in finding the missing elven prisoners, as well as no monster of the week to end the week. These are the times where Skeleton Knight…really shines, when the plot is focused, and there’s a clear drive to get to the resolution. If we cut out Danka, I think “Infiltrating the Slave Market! In Search of the World’s Evil” would have pretty close to perfect.
