Review: The Loud House “The Taunting Hour; Musical Chairs”
Overview
“The Taunting Hour”
after Lincoln tries to help Lynn get over a heckler at her soccer game, the Louds realize they all have critics..
“Musical Chairs”
Lincoln convinces his teacher, Mr. Bolhofner, to join the Doo-Dads in order to get a better seat in class…
Our Take
For the first episode, the focus mostly stems from Lynn’s insecurities that begin to surface when a heckler from her soccer game mentally gets to her. But as Lincoln tries to help her by saying that even most of her other family members have their own haters, which somewhat backfires on everyone else leading towards Lincoln revealing something about himself in the process to help them gain a better understanding.
As for 2nd one, Lincoln has trouble trying to persuade the unhinged Mr. Bolhofner for a different seat away from some potential trouble, and at first things go well when he exposes him to being part of a band made up of mostly dads, but things don’t completely go the way Lincoln envisioned…
Overall, both episodes were somewhat focused on Lincoln and surprisingly a bullying asshole in his class/heckler named “Chandler”. While it’s not explained where Chandler’s grudge against Lincoln stems from, Some of the messages that are properly conveyed in both episodes are mostly that sometimes, all we need is emotional body armor to get through the day when it comes to unmitigated assholes. Not everyone was taught this growing up which I think this is why these episodes kinda matter. Although some of the weird shit that Chandler does is meant to be played for laughs, it makes you wonder how he gets away with any of it…
