Hulu Nabs “Koala Man” From Michael Cusack/Justin Roiland
A few years ago we covered Michael Cusack’s original series Koala Man when it premiered in Australia with a number of shorts, and now we have the announcement that Hulu is getting the American-take of the Aussie character.
That’s right, Michael Cusack’s Koala Man has been ordered for eight episodes for Hulu. The series follows a wannabe superhero dad who tries his best to fight crime and bring order to his neighborhood. Pokémon Detective Pikachu co-writers Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit are going to be the showrunners, and also writing/producing with Cusack. Justin Roiland is producing and animation will be done by a collaboration of 20th Century Animation and the new Bento/Princess Pictures joint studio effort that was announced last week.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
