Review: Craig of the Creek “Afterschool Snackdown”
Overview
Craig enters a snack-making competition within the Creek, but worries he may be out of his league after trying out the recipes of the other contestants.
Our Take
Hilariously the contest itself is structured like a blatant parody of those food-competition inspired reality shows like “Iron Chef” or the Anime “Food Wars” with every character having an unusual recipe to offer which consequently leaves Craig to have doubts and even Kelsey changing her attitude progressively as each character within the Creek has something unique to offer. Some with ideas that seem plausible enough to make in real life, but much of the humor also came from other characters’ reactions and how out of proportion everyone reacts to their unique recipes.
By the time Craig gets to be next, things start to take a very unpredictable direction that I’m sure nobody will see coming, However, the ending left me grossed out more than in laughter.
A passable episode in terms of humor, And while the ending played with my expectations, it also left a bad taste in my mouth…
There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
