English Dub Review: Rent-a-Girlfriend “Rental Girlfriend”
Overview:
How will Mami respond to Chizuru? And can Kazuya process what he thinks is a rejection?

I’ve mentioned in the last few days how romance anime seems to be the flavor of the season. But I feel like this show barely qualifies as a romance. It’s kind of its own genre, the trainwreck. As much shit as I talk on this show, even I have to admit that the way this episode ends is intriguing.
I believe I mentioned that we’re past the point at which I stopped reading the manga. So everything that happens from here on out is new to me, and boy, did something happen. While everyone was heading to the baths, Mami had her phone “fall out” of her towel. I put that in quotes because I’m fairly certain she did it on purpose, especially with what the screen was on.
Most people I know don’t walk around without their screens unlocked. Mami did, and in this particular instance, she left it open to Chizuru’s rental page. Granny was, of course, the one who went to pick it up and froze when she saw it. This led to everyone wondering what was going on and looking at the phone on the ground. So for once, I’m actually excited to see what happens in the next episode.
No matter what happens, Kazuya is not going to live down what I was forced to watch in this episode. While he was contemplating his “rejection” by Chizuru, he imagined her having sex with someone else. Not only that, but it gave our main character a boner, so at this point, I can’t help but wonder if that’s what he wants to happen. Either way, he’s jumping the gun because she didn’t really reject him. He needs to say what he needs to say and leave it up to her. But that would mean we’re dealing with a main character who isn’t an idiot.
