English Dub Review: Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs “This World Is Tough for Mobs”

Overview

The war between the kingdom and principality ends, and Leon looks forward to a quiet and relaxing life.

Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, we’ve reached the season finale of Trapped in a Dating Sim, which serves as a calmer follow-up to the intense war arc. With the conflict finally over, Leon and the others deal with the aftermath while the kingdom begins returning to normal. Leon also finds himself facing an unexpected new responsibility, much to his frustration, while Angelica and Olivia finally make some important progress with him.

The finale focuses more on character moments and comedy than another major conflict, which works well after the intensity of the previous episodes. Leon’s relationship dynamic with Angelica and Olivia also reaches a significant change, while Marie provides an intriguing revelation that hints at a much larger story still waiting to unfold. The episode ends on a particularly amusing note that feels perfectly fitting for Leon’s never-ending bad luck.

Overall, this was a solid and enjoyable finale, even if the season’s weaker animation and character designs compared to the first season were still noticeable. The story, comedy, and cast were enough to make the season worthwhile, and the finale leaves things open for more of Leon’s adventures as shown in a comedic post-credits scene. As of this writing, there’s still no word on a Season 3, but if it does happen, I’d definitely be watching.
