English Dub Review: Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You “Keeping It Going Behind the Supermarket with You”
Overview
Sasaki receives a message from an old acquaintance, one he isn’t ready for…
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, we’ve reached the season finale. It was a sweet and wholesome ending that brought Sasaki and Tayama closer, even without a direct confession or kiss. Tayama pushing Sasaki to finally meet his old friend was a great moment, especially since his insecurities had been holding him back. It also showed just how much she genuinely cares about him, even if she nearly gave away her Yamada identity twice in the process.
The Season finale maintained the series’ relaxed atmosphere, balancing humor, everyday conversations, and subtle romantic development. The music was another highlight, with imase’s “Night Dancer” and “Fiction” standing out alongside Zutomayo’s openings and the show’s memorable background tracks. Despite the smoking, this was still a surprisingly cozy series with plenty of charm.
Overall, this was a solid season finale to a consistently enjoyable romance. While I don’t think it quite lived up to all the hype and some episodes were stronger than others, the cast, chemistry, humor, and laid-back atmosphere made it an easy show to enjoy each week. I’d definitely welcome a second season to see where this slow-burn romance goes next.
