As the battle in Tokyo Bay intensifies, Magilumiere’s Magical Girls work together to take control. However, Tsuchiba from AST intervenes to turn the battle on its head with her ultra-powerful new magical device, known as “Wings,” aiming to single-handedly annihilate the target and contradict Magilumiere’s cooperative combat style. Now, with tensions flaring, it’s not just a fight against the Kaii anymore…

Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, Magilumiere’s battle at Tokyo Bay becomes even more intense when AST introduces its powerful new magical device, “Wings.” The new technology gives Tsuchiba an impressive amount of firepower, but it also creates tension with Magilumiere’s more cooperative approach to combat. With the situation becoming increasingly complicated, the episode does a good job of raising the stakes while keeping the focus on the differences between their philosophies.

A lot of the episode’s proceedings give us insight into Mei and her complicated relationship with work, responsibility, and the ideals she once held. Kana once again proves how much she genuinely cares about both her teammates and Mei as a person, leading to some surprisingly emotional moments between the two. However, the growing mystery surrounding the Kaii also keeps things interesting, while the contrast between the different approaches to handling the crisis gives the story some worthwhile character drama.

Overall, this was a solid episode that delivered some higher stakes while giving Mei and Kana more room to develop. The Wings design looks pretty cool, and the music and story remain strong, although the animation still doesn’t quite match the quality of the manga. With only one episode left before the season finale, Magilumiere has certainly left enough hanging to make the wait for the conclusion interesting.
