English Dub Review: Though I Am an Inept Villainess “My Miracle Comet”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Reirin proposes ending the body swap, but Keigetsu refuses as Leelee begins to sense something is amiss.
Our Take:
Despite being stuck in Keigetsu’s body, Reirin sure seems to handle the latter’s issues with no problems. In this day and age, we could all use some kindness in our lives, especially when it comes from Reirin. Keigetsu, on the other hand, is once again not so fortunate, as she continues to receive karma through her suffering from Reirin’s body. However, despite Reirin’s help controlling the fever and her respect for her name, Keigetsu still won’t give up the body because her stubbornness and jealousy are still overwhelming her. If I were in her shoes and the fever had gotten worse, I would’ve tapped out immediately. It just isn’t worth all the torment. It further shows that Inept Villainess is another instance where the situation could’ve been resolved faster if it weren’t for the character’s stupidity, despite a few enjoyable merits that keep the premise interesting.
However, the whole “body-swapping” issue is not the only problem Reirin will be facing in her quest. Through Leelee’s confession, it turns out that the Kin clan’s maiden Seika was actually the mastermind behind the order to torment “Keigetsu”. Seika seeks to become the noble consort once Reirin becomes empress, though she couldn’t do it when Keigetsu is still in the picture. Like the previous episode, “My Miracle Comet” expands on the concept that Keigetsu isn’t the only vile noble in the land, as the Kin clan has a few members who are willing to get what they want by any means necessary. That includes Gayou and Seika, whose plot is affected by Keigetsu’s own path of villainy, putting Reirin in more hot water than usual.
