English Dub Review: Clevatess “Whispering Voice”

Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, Clevatess continues the chaos at the school as Alicia finds herself caught in the middle of Andrew, Vordin, and the Dark Beasts. While the episode delivers some solid action and a few impressive moments, it feels more like a transitional chapter than a major advancement of the story. Vordin’s influence over the students becomes increasingly disturbing, especially as his rune magic pushes them beyond their limits, while events elsewhere hint at a much larger conflict developing around Klen’s domain.

One of the episode’s biggest strengths is its character work, particularly with Alicia, Andrew, and Rod. Alicia continues to prove just how absurdly resilient she is, while Andrew’s actions suggest there may be more to his motivations than initially apparent. Gart’s arrival also shakes things up and provides one of the episode’s better moments, although Alicia certainly doesn’t get much of a break even after surviving yet another brutal encounter. Meanwhile, Naie is beginning to realize just how far out of control everything has become, while Klen remains almost comically calm amid the chaos. The episode also leaves plenty of questions surrounding Vordin’s ultimate intentions, keeping his larger plan deliberately vague.

Overall, this was a solid but somewhat uneven episode that feels more focused on positioning its characters and factions for what comes next than delivering major revelations. The action is entertaining, Alicia’s resilience remains a highlight, and the growing conflict between the various Dark Beasts and humans continues to make the season increasingly unpredictable. At the same time, the story is starting to juggle enough factions, motivations, and mysteries that a spreadsheet might soon be required just to keep track of everyone. Still, with several characters now converging and the bigger conflict beginning to take shape, the show seems to be setting the stage for something much larger.
