Review: Breaking Bear “Don’t Get High On Your Own Supply”

Overview:

Tubi recently debuted the release of Breaking Bear, an animated series that sees talking bears join the meth industry to save their forest. The opening two-parter concludes with “Don’t Get High On Your Own Supply.”

Our Take:

Dwight Salter, the drug-dealing teacher who introduced the three bears into the world of meth, explains how budget cuts against the drama department drove him to his current occupation. He recruits many of his former students, who later found work as local hookers to help deal drugs.

Meanwhile, the bears, being bears introduce honey to the meth, creating a new flavor. Just like in those Reese’s commercials. Though they compare it to Taco Bell’s Doritos Locos tacos for some reason. Probably a trademark issue.

With a song in their heart, the new recruits take to the streets to sell their new crop, with the bears passing themselves off as furries. Unfortunately, not everyone wants to be friends, especially a local Aryan gang who doesn’t want to competition, going so far as to smoke their entire stash.

Fortunately, meth is to Alistair what spinach is to Popeye, and a swig is able to put him in a fighting mood. As for the other talking bears. Well, they’re talking bears. You can probably guess that things are going to end with a lot of blood. Besides, anyone who is willing to put up with theatre kids is bound to do unspeakable things to get some answers. All in all, an interesting way to end the two-part premiere.
