English Dub Review: I Want to End This Love Game “My Childhood Friend is Girly”

Overview:

Natsuki suggests making snacks with Yukiya to thank him for taking care of her when she was sick.

Our Take(Spoilers):

At this point, I would say the love game is over. There was a lot of suggestive stuff that happened in this episode, but there was nothing suggestive about what they said to each other at the end. I’ll get to that in a bit, but I need to talk about mochi here. Yukiya and Miku made mochi together, and Miku’s were pink. She wanted Yukiya to try the one she made, and he commented to her that blew my mind. He said something about how Miku would rather he taste her instead. Excuse me, sir?! I was surprised that it didn’t get more of a reaction out of Miku.

Before that, they finally went back to school, and it shone a light on Yukiya and Miku. All of Miku’s friends wanted details on what happened while Yukiya nursed her back to health. They assumed that something sexual happened and were disappointed when that wasn’t the case.

Meanwhile, Yukiya could hear the guys in class talking, and one of them thinks that Miku likes him. She doesn’t; she was being nice, but still, I can understand why Yukiya would get annoyed hearing them talk like that. That might have been what led to them doing what they did.

What happened at the end of the episode made me do a double-take. It sounded like Yukiya said that he loved Miku and that Miku said she loved him too. To me, that would mean that the game is over, but when I did some research on the story, apparently it’s still going. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing a couple after the confession, but according to fans of the series, this wasn’t even a confession.

So far, we don’t have any confirmation of a second season, and before, I would have said we don’t need one. They confessed and will now probably be a couple, and that’s where most romance anime ends. But like I said, that wasn’t a confession, apparently, and somehow the game continues.

Now I would like a second season because I want to see how these two kid themselves into thinking that they’re not actually a couple when all the things they do are couple things. I have some things to think about before I write my season review, that’s for sure.
