Overview:

The prom kicks off, and a couple is crowned. Poem confronts Togo. Izubuchi searches for the man who saved him.

Our Take(Spoilers):

I’ll admit that I got, got. Near the end of this episode, it seemed like we were going to get another surprise pairing. It started to look like Tsukishima and Tasaki were going to get together. They were bonding over their love of manga, and Tsukishima found out that Tasaki was the author of a doujinshi he loved. But they started to talk about something they hate in a story, and that’s two people getting paired together near the end of the story for no reason at all. The narrator even commented and said, “And just like that, a ship has sunk,” so I don’t think we’ll see them smooching anytime soon.

Speaking of smooching, I’ll be honest, I don’t think we’ll ever see any kissing. Poem and Sakuradaimon finally held hands, and not only that, but I don’t think we’ll see a second season. I’ll do my best not to talk smack on Rent-a-Girlfriend at this point. But it is disheartening when a great rom-com with actual progress doesn’t get more seasons. You could argue that the point of the show is over, but I would disagree. Even though Tsukishima and Tasaki might not get together, other couples would be fun to watch.

Akina seemed to finally catch the attention of Izubuchi, and I would like to see that happen. Somehow, Kogori still hasn’t realized that Yamato is the girl he’s been looking for, even though they won Prom King and Queen. I’ll admit that’s kind of annoying, but I’d even like to see what happens with their relationship.

Poem and Sakuradaimon finally had a conversation that ended whatever argument they had going at the time. I’ll admit that it was rather anti-climactic with how it was resolved, but if you’ve ever been in a healthy relationship, that’s usually what happens. There’s no big fight or anything, just two people who decide that they care more for their partner than winning a fight.

Don’t get me wrong, Poem and Sakuradaimon have more than enough issues as well, but I liked seeing them work things out by having a conversation. Sakuradaimon is still an idiot that can’t read a room, and Poem still gets angry way too fast, but little by little, they’ve started to understand each other more.
