Adult Swim isn’t waiting around for approval ratings—they’re doubling down on their newest Commander-in-Chief.

Ahead of its dedicated panel presentation at San Diego Comic-Con, Adult Swim has officially handed down a Season 2 renewal for its upcoming animated series President Curtis, securing a second term for the show before its first season even hits the airwaves.

Spun off from the wild universe of the network’s hit series Rick and Morty, the standalone comedy centers on the short-tempered, headstrong President of the United States, voiced once again by Keith David.

The character of President Curtis first debuted in Rick and Morty’s Season 2 episode “Get Schwifty” and quickly became one of the franchise’s breakout recurring figures. Known for his volatile ego, absurd military operations, and fragile rivalry with Rick Sanchez, Curtis has spent seasons trying to maintain global order while managing his own wildly dysfunctional administration.

President Curtis places the commander-in-chief front and center, exploring the daily chaos inside the White House as he tackles extraterrestrial threats, national crises, and petty personal grudges—often with terrible, hilarious results.

Adult Swim Shows Big Confidence Ahead of SDCC

Early, pre-premiere renewals have become a hallmark stamp of approval for Adult Swim, but doing so right on the eve of San Diego Comic-Con signals massive executive confidence in the spinoff’s potential.

The creative team, lead writers, and voice talent will celebrate the early renewal during their SDCC panel, where attendees will be treated to an exclusive first-look trailer, behind-the-scenes concept art, and a special advance screening of select footage from Season 1.

The series is slated to make its official network premiere on Adult Swim later this year, with episodes streaming on Max the following day.
