NYCC 2026: ‘Bob’s Burgers’ Sets December Premiere for Hulu Holiday Short ‘On the Fort Day of Christmas’

Posted on by

The Belcher family is taking their holiday antics straight to streaming this winter. During the Bob’s Burgers panel at New York Comic Con 2026, series creator Loren Bouchard alongside stars H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Kristen Schaal, Eugene Mirman, Dan Mintz, and Larry Murphy officially revealed the release date and first-look trailer for their upcoming Hulu-exclusive holiday short, On the Fort Day of Christmas.

The standalone special will premiere on December 7, 2026, streaming exclusively on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ in the U.S., as well as Disney+ internationally.

Snow Day Dreams: The Ultimate Snow Fort

While Bob’s Burgers fans are accustomed to landmark holiday episodes during FOX’s fall broadcast schedule, the upcoming 17th season has been shifted to a midseason return in early 2027. To bridge the gap and keep the show’s beloved holiday tradition alive, 20th Television Animation produced the exclusive streaming short.

The plot kicks off when a local weather report forecasts a massive, record-breaking Christmas snowstorm. Seeing a golden opportunity, Louise, Gene, and Tina set out on an ambitious holiday mission: to build a record-breaking Christmas snow fort. Naturally, chaos, sibling rivalries, and typical Belcher eccentricity quickly follow.

Expanding 20th Television Animation’s Streaming Specials

The release follows a broader trend across 20th Television Animation’s flagship properties, such as Family Guy and Futurama, which have increasingly leveraged Hulu-exclusive specials and event programming to complement their traditional broadcast runs.

Though On the Fort Day of Christmas runs shorter than a traditional 22-minute episode, the short promises to deliver all the heart, musical flair, and winter cozy chaos that have made the Belchers a staple of holiday television for over a decade.

Mark your calendars: On the Fort Day of Christmas debuts December 7, 2026 on Hulu, with Season 17 slated to return to FOX in early 2027.
