English Dub Review: The Beginning After the End “The King Celebrates”
Overview
It’s Eleanor’s birthday, and Arthur has a special gift for his little sister.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, Arthur becomes directly involved in a confrontation at the academy when Princess Kathlyn, daughter of King Blaine, is introduced alongside a group of nobles. He openly calls out their bullying, identifying their leader as Jamiel Trident, another noble heir. Prince Curtis initially considers letting the situation go, but Arthur escalates matters by contacting Director Goodsky and effectively forcing an expulsion, which leaves Jamiel stunned. Curtis is also surprised when Kathlyn shows an unexpected interest in Arthur.
Around the same time, the three kingdoms formally announce the discovery of a new continent and establish the Six Lances, two humans, two elves, and two dwarves tasked with maintaining peace. The rest of the proceedings also attempts to balance political worldbuilding with character-focused moments, showing Arthur’s growing influence as he effortlessly overturns noble authority and even shapes decisions at the highest levels. Meanwhile, Eleanor receives various birthday gifts, while the ending reveals that nothing is what it seems…
Overall, with only one episode left in the season, this installment feels like it is deliberately laying down final pieces rather than delivering a payoff, stacking political, personal, and future conflict threads all at once. It’s clearly positioning the story for a transition into a larger arc involving the new continent and rising tensions, but it ends with more anticipation than resolution as the season heads into its final episode.
