English Dub Review: Oshi no Ko “The Beginning”
Overview:
Aqua has a very surprising encounter, and Ruby is close to succumbing under all the pressure.
Our Take(Spoilers):
What I mean by saying that I’ve had the worst luck today it’s in the fact that it seems that every show I review gets me emotional. This was the final episode for the season, but it was an hour long, so we essentially got twelve. In that hour of runtime, we were treated to two different backstories. We learned about Ruby back when she was Sarina and how her mother basically stopped visiting her in the hospital. We then learned about how Miyako came to work for Strawberry Productions.
Seeing how coldly Sarina was treated by her mother upset me. I know that a dog and a child aren’t the same thing, but when my dog was sick, I stayed with him all I could. His sickness didn’t last years, so I can understand why Sarina’s mother might have gotten stressed, but still, that’s no excuse to me, and the father never came either. When Sarina’s mother gets involved in the marketing for the movie, Aqua understandably wants her kept far away from Ruby, and that was before he realized she was Sarina.
Now that Aqua and Ruby both know who they were in their past lives, it has led to some complications. In their past lives, Aqua had promised to marry Ruby when she turned sixteen, and she’s sixteen now. Well… I get that they’re reincarnated, but they’re also still technically blood-related. They started to freak out, Kana, when she caught Ruby sitting on Aqua’s lap. I wonder how they’re going to play this in the next season cause while it’s not exactly the worst anime relationship I’ve seen, it’s still weird.
