English Dub Review: Ascendance of a Bookworm: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke “Wilfried’s Day as High Bishop”
Overview
Rosemyne finally gets fed up with Wilfried’s complaints and offers to switch spots with him for a day.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, Wilfried is forced to experience Rosemyne’s daily responsibilities firsthand after constantly believing she had an easy life. The reality proves far harsher than expected, exposing just how unprepared he is for his future role. Ferdinand doesn’t hold back in criticizing both Wilfried’s shortcomings and the failures of those responsible for his upbringing, forcing everyone involved to confront the consequences of years of neglect.
This was one of the strongest character-focused episodes of the season. Watching Wilfried’s perspective completely change was satisfying, especially as he realized how demanding Rosemyne’s life truly is. Ferdinand’s brutal honesty made for some incredibly tense scenes, while the episode also highlighted the importance of proper education and guidance. Although parts of the adaptation felt rushed compared to the source material, the emotional weight and character development still landed well.
Overall, this episode delivers meaningful growth for several characters while setting the stage for future developments. Its focus on responsibility, family, and personal growth makes it one of the season’s more impactful installments, even if some of the pacing feels a little compressed. It’s an engaging episode that moves the story forward without relying on major surprises.
