‘South Park’ Ready to Let Season 29 Rip This September on Comedy Central, Paramount+
The quiet, mountain town of South Park, Colorado is gearing up for another round of beautifully orchestrated chaos. Comedy Central and Paramount+ have officially announced that the highly anticipated 29th season of the landmark adult animation series South Park will premiere on Wednesday, September 16 at 10:00 PM ET/PT.
Co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone formally broke the news during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, accompanied by a brand-new teaser promo. The announcement locks in the next step of a franchise that continues to break cable records and shatter television conventions as it rapidly hurtles toward its historic 30th anniversary in 2027.
A Bi-Weekly Event Schedule
Following the trend of its recent seasons, South Park is leaning into a highly curated, event-style rollout rather than the traditional weekly grind. New episodes will drop every other Wednesday, mapping out a six-episode run that will carry fans all the way through the autumn season.
For streaming audiences, the distribution strategy remains global and frictionless. New episodes will be available to stream the next day on Paramount+ around the world, with immediate next-day streaming availability locked in for users in the United States, Canada, and Australia.
Navigating Political Madness and High-Flying Cable Ratings
The return of Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny comes on the heels of a wildly successful—and deeply controversial—28th season that wrapped up last December. True to form, Parker and Stone spent much of the previous season pushing political satire to its absolute absolute limits, telling an overarching, surreal narrative involving Donald Trump, Satan, and a miniature, heavily satirized version of Vice President J.D. Vance. The episodes were so provocative they even drew formal responses from political figures and the White House.
Yet, the controversy has only fueled the show’s undeniable economic power. South Park reigned supreme as the #1 show on cable among the coveted P18-49 demographic. Even more impressively, the return of Season 27 delivered the best average P18-49 viewer share for the network in 27 years, marking the franchise’s most-watched season in over six years.
