Our Take

Comedy Central really did try this year and launch other animated comedies but none of them truly had the grit to truly be a counterpart to South Park quite like Mike Judge’s Beavis And Butt-Head. I mean, Among Us, meh, Golden Axe, largely missed potential, the second season of Everybody Still Hates Chris that leaked in South America or something? Nah. This is the only one that matters and the new season premiere clearly shows this is the best of the bunch.

This week we got to experience the show in two different formats that we normally wouldn’t get to see. The first is with a Spanish dub, first for me. The other is from a first-persion shooter perspective by way of body cams and both were hilarious in their own way. Old Beavis and Butt-Head also make their presence felt with two episodes that allows the franchise to mess around with ideas that maybe the OG characters aren’t quite old enough to experience yet.

Cutaways largely were the same this year as they were last year in terms of effectiveness, though I think a lot of the commentary here on the bigger stars could be a bit sharper, but overall it’s about what you would expect.

With South Park going bi-monthly, Mike Judge’s Beavis and Butt-Head will serve as a solid rock for several weeks to come bringing the heavy in laughs and stupidity that makes it the perfect couple of beers that viewers will need to either serve as a complement or stand-a-lone piece for Comedy Central’s Wednesday lineup.
