English Dub Review: Isekai Office Worker: The Other World’s Books Depend on the Bean Counter “I Went on an Expedition”
Overview
Kondou gets dragged along to the purification ceremony within the Demon Forest…
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, the story consistently continues to balance fantasy tension with slow-burn character drama as Seiichirou is unexpectedly forced into a dangerous expedition despite his fragile condition. While political tensions quietly rise around the mission, the episode spends much of its time highlighting the growing strain between Seiichirou’s relentless work habits and Aresh’s increasingly protective behavior. Their interactions remain the emotional core of the story, blending awkward intimacy, jealousy, and genuine concern in ways that keep the relationship engaging.
The rest of the proceedings also attempts to give more attention to the supporting cast, particularly the Holy Maiden, who finally begins to understand the harsh reality of the world she was summoned into. The contrast between Seiichirou’s grounded, adult perspective and her more idealized outlook adds some welcome character depth, while hints of court politics and hidden motives continue to simmer beneath the surface. Although the pacing leans heavily into setup, the atmosphere and character-focused moments help maintain interest as the expedition approaches increasingly dangerous territory.
Overall, this was a slower but emotionally layered episode that focused more on character dynamics than action. The series continues to lean into its mix of fantasy workplace drama, romance, and political tension, with Aresh and Seiichirou’s evolving relationship carrying much of the appeal. While some viewers may find Seiichirou frustratingly oblivious or Aresh overly possessive at times, the episode does a solid job building anticipation for what feels like a major turning point ahead.
