Overview
Kenshiro goes solo into the Golan compound known as “God’s Land”. There, he encounters Mad Sarge, the brutal instructor who trains Golan’s soldiers. Once a member of the elite Red Berets and famed for his deadly combat skills, Mad Sarge leads his troops in a full-force assault on Kenshiro!!
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, Kenshiro infiltrates the heavily fortified Golan compound known as “God’s Land,” where he tears through ruthless soldiers trained under the feared Mad Sarge. Throughout the episode, the Colonel’s looming presence casts a constant shadow over the conflict, with his authority and ideology shaping both the compound and the men serving under him. The story also spends more time exploring the origins of the ruined world and the corrupt leadership that contributed to its collapse, giving the Golan faction a more layered and threatening role within the arc.
The combat sequences were easily some of the strongest in the series so far, with sharp choreography, impactful animation, and intense voice performances helping every encounter feel larger than life. Kenshiro once again proves overwhelming in battle, even against highly trained opponents, while the Colonel’s martial arts and military background make him one of the more memorable adversaries up to this point. At the same time, the episode balances the violence with emotional moments involving Rin, whose determination to help Kenshiro highlights both her courage and recklessness.
Overall, this was one of the strongest episodes of the remake so far, thanks to its combination of intense action, improved characterization, and polished presentation. The expanded focus on the Colonel helped make the conflict feel more meaningful, while the animation and music elevated several scenes beyond what previous versions of the arc achieved. From its brutal fights to its emotional conclusion, the episode delivered a satisfying and dramatic finish to this chapter of the story, leaving me to wonder, ” What will happen next?
