English Dub Review: Farming Life in Another World “Welcome”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
New residents mean building new homes. There’s just one problem: regular houses do not fit the needs of minotaurs and centaurs.
Our Take:
It’s been at least three years since we last saw Hiraku and his friends living a tranquil life in their village. It wasn’t without its issues standing in their way, but at the end of the day, their Great Tree Village ended up thriving, drawing the attention of every living species in the isekai world. After such a long time, the fantasy isekai anime finally returns to this sanctuary, as Hiraku and the others plan to create another village next to the one they have. The reason is obvious: they have even more new residents moving in. This time, we have a bunch of centaurs, minotaurs, and even wood spirits, the latter of whom have lost their original homes to humans. Darn those humans and their lack of understanding towards nature. Unfortunately, they would have to make the houses bigger so the four-legged residents could stay.
While I’m not the biggest fan of Farming Life in Another World when it first came out, I respect it for providing enough charm and interest in its tranquil narrative and respectable characters. It was more of a laid-back, low-stakes isekai anime centered on a reincarnated protagonist living the best second life possible. Of course, it’s not without a huge harem backing him up in the process, with Ru and Tia living happy marriages with Hiraku. Unsurprisingly, the long-awaited season two premiere, “Welcome”, offers more of the same in terms of structure and tone, with even more residents joining in to expand the community. If you enjoyed the first season because of it, then you might still get some enjoyment out of this reunion. While still a tad corny in the voice direction, it’s a fine and welcoming return to the serene world of Farming Life.
