English Dub Review: My Hero Academia: Vigilantes “This Is a Hero!”

The Sky Egg falls as Captain Celebrity hits his limit, with only one person capable of saving the day…

Our Take(Spoilers):

I have to say that this episode was awesome, but it was a letdown in the sense that it felt like a deus ex machina. Which is funny because it’s even mentioned and defined in this episode, which I’m sure was on purpose. All Might is working at his office, and I’m going to guess the people there don’t know what he looks like when not powered up. He was in a meeting and was getting yelled at for having his cell phone on, and they called him “Yagi,” so I think that’s a safe assumption.

Tsukauchi was the one who called All Might because he didn’t want anything to happen to his sister. All Might gets there and saves the day, which was part of my letdown. I didn’t want Captain Celebrity to die by any means, but I didn’t want his efforts to be nullified like that. Especially because while doing some research, I discovered that his English voice is Sean Schemmel. I couldn’t believe it, Goku himself is voicing Captain Celebrity! On second thought, I’m okay with All Might stealing his thunder because Vegeta deserves a win too. In case you don’t know, Chris Sabat voices All Might and Vegeta, while Schemmel voices Captain Celebrity and Goku, so it’s a full-circle moment.

Another full-circle example was Iwao taking on the villainous Number 6. I have no confirmation yet, but it seems that All for One stole Iwao’s power when he was O’Clock and gave it to Number 6, who idolized O’Clock. I can’t tell if Number 6 was a monster blob thing before, or if that is just an artistic interpretation of how he saw himself. What I do know is that Number 6 is one of the better villains in the franchise.
