English Dub Review: Classroom of the Elite “Assassin From the White Room” “Contract and Payment” “Determination of a Leader” “To Whom the Blade Turns”
Overview:
Ayanokoji’s second year begins with a new threat from the White Room and a new special test. Ayanokoji and Horikita’s quest for a partner for Sudo brings them to a first-year with unusual demands. Class 2-D continues its negotiations with Class 1-D as the state of the field becomes clearer. Negotiations with Hosen come to a head with little time left before the end of the special test.
Our Take(Spoilers):
I’m really glad that they decided to release these four episodes at once. I wouldn’t say that the plot is wrapped up by any means, but the endings of episodes one through three would have left a bad taste in my mouth, so I’m glad we got to see some things get resolved.
Hosen is the newest piece of shit to threaten everyone. He’s a real bastard, but lucky for us, our protagonist, Ayanokoji, is a bigger bastard. All while he has to try and figure out which of the new first years is the white room student.
It sounds like all the voice cast is back. This is one of my favorite Justin Briner roles because Ayanokoji is so different from other characters he voices. Briner usually voices high-pitched characters with hopeful tones, but Ayanokoji is more subdued in how he speaks. One thing I hate when we get a continuation of an older show is that when new voices get introduced, it takes a while for credit websites to catch up. Tia Ballard was obvious as one of the first years, but there were a few new characters I’m excited to learn about who bring them to life.
It’s been a while since I watched this show, so if past seasons were like this, I don’t remember. But occasionally the animation seems off. Whenever there is a close-up of characters, it looks like you can almost see individual pixels. Sometimes it almost comes off as intentional. I’ll keep an eye on it as the season progresses.
If you’re new to Classroom of the Elite, do not start here. You will be lost, and this show is interesting enough that I highly recommend watching from the start. I’m glad this show is back. I wish it didn’t take so long to get continuations, but I’ll take what I can get.
