English Dub Review: An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess “An Observation Log of the Self-Proclaimed Villainess’s Debut into Society.”
Overview:
Bertia struggles to correct the scenario she has unintentionally altered. At the same time, Cecil enters Halm Academy, a boarding school. During this time, in which the two of them spend more and more time apart, Bertia’s mother becomes pregnant, and it leaves Bertia worried about one thing.
Our Take:
There were a lot of troublesome things discussed in this episode. Bertia, armed with her knowledge from a past life, knew that there was a vicount who helped to influence her father to be evil. She decides to reach out to him to learn his evil ways, and it turns out he might be more evil than we could imagine. Cecil lets Bertia know that the vicount has been known to be interested in “young” girls, if you know what I mean. This puts some things that happened into perspective for her, and you could tell that Cecil was upset.
I don’t want to get my hopes up unnecessarily, but I’m thinking this is going to end up being better in the romance department than I thought. Cecil seems to legitimately care about Bertia, and if she can slow down for a second, I hope that she realizes she cares for him, too. It would be nice to see a villainess show focus on the two leads more than any harem aspect.
One cool thing that happened this episode involved Cecil’s voice. Up until now, he had been voiced by Donna Xia. There was a point during a voiceover that his current voice got overtaken by a new one. Now that he’s a little older, we are introduced to his new voice, given to us by Blake McNamara. I don’t know a whole lot about him, but he sounds good so far.
