English Dub Review: You Can’t Be in a Rom-Com with Your Childhood Friends! “Scared? Lost Something? Let off Steam on Sports Day? Still Won’t Start a Rom-Com”
Overview:
Shio and Eiyu talk it out, and Eiyu has an epiphany.
Our Take:
This episode was pretty funny with all the different interactions between characters. Seeing Akari and Shio have a misunderstanding about the kiss. Akari thought Shio was talking about the kiss between Eiyu and Haru, but Shio meant when she kissed Eiyu. What made this misunderstanding hilarious was the different ways they tried to explain it, but also the fact that it wasn’t a misunderstanding for long. Shio mentioned kissing Eiyu, which sent Akari into a depressive tailspin.
One thing I don’t understand is what is going on with Eiyu near the end of the episode. He gets this weird look in his eyes and acts completely different. When I say a weird look, I mean that the way he’s animated is different than usual. His eyes basically become a bunch of squiggly lines in a circle, and his mouth is drawn almost like a cat’s mouth or something.
Eiyu makes a declaration that nothing should change, and they should all remain childhood friends forever, essentially. This upsets most of the girls because it feels like they’ve been rejected without even letting their feelings be known. I’m not sure what caused Eiyu to act like this, but hopefully, they can reset him to factory settings in the last episode.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
