English Dub Review: You and I Are Polar Opposites “Class Trip(Part 1)”

Overview:

At last, it’s time for the class trip. The girls in her class pelt Suzuki with questions about her relationship with Tani. Suzuki confesses her true feelings to Azuma, saying, “I want to take things further with Tani.”

Our Take:

If you’re coming here fresh from my review for the first season of Hana-Kimi, then you know how I felt about that. This is a show I would love to get another season of because this is a fantastic show that is a rom-com done right. Despite how over the top some of the characters look, I can’t help but feel like this is one of the more realistic depictions of high school romance and life.

The class goes on their trip, and while Suzuki wants the relationship to go further, she’s also a bit upset that it seems like she’s making all the “first moves.” I also think that Tani needs to meet her halfway when it comes to things like this, because it can upset your partner, always being the one to progress a relationship.

I’m not worried about those two figuring things out, but I want to see some of the other couples’ progress on this trip. With Yamada seemingly basing his schedule on Nishi’s, I think we can expect to see more from them. But I hope we see more from Azuma and Taira now that they’re outside of their typical school environment.
