English Dub Review: Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun “The Tycoon and the Jewel”

Overview

Both Gyari and Kuromu make shocking announcements at the Dem-dol Games.

Our Take

Picking up from the previous episode, Iruma continues participating in the Dem-Dol competition while disguised under his “Irumi” persona, and quickly proves that “her” talents extend far beyond simply looking cute. His involvement also brings him into the middle of Gyari and Kuromu’s hilarious rivalry, as their bizarre relationship continues to blur the line between competition, friendship, and romance. Their “main character syndrome” makes for some of the episode’s funniest moments.

The competition itself keeps the energy high, with plenty of ridiculous reactions, expressive faces, and great comedic timing. Chima also gets a chance to step outside her comfort zone, leading to a surprisingly heartfelt moment during all the chaos. Meanwhile, everyone’s reactions to Irumi’s growing popularity are priceless, especially Ameri’s increasingly unhinged jealousy. The animation also stands out here, with especially expressive character designs and some energetic visual flair.

Overall, this was easily one of the strongest episodes of the Dem-Dol arc so far. Gyari and Kuromu’s dysfunctional dynamic is a major highlight, with their shared “main character syndrome” perfectly emphasizing how neither can simply act normal when it comes to each other. Their rivalry is exaggerated, ridiculous, and strangely heartfelt, while Irumi continues winning over practically everyone around him. With only **three episodes left in the season after this one**, the competition is quickly approaching its finale, and I’m excited to see how this arc wraps up.
