English Dub Review: Anyway, I’m Falling in Love with You “The Declaration”
Overview:
Kizuki quits his job to pursue swimming. Meanwhile, Shin is out with a fever and Mizuho pays him a visit.
Our Take:
I came to a realization that I now understand why these types of shows usually stick to a high school setting. Adults don’t typically find themselves hung up on the same person for a decade. I’m sure there are some people who have experienced that but what sets this apart is that it’s a harem show. There are at least three guys who have been in love with Mizuho for ten years without ever moving on. At least Shin has been shown to sleep with other women occasionally but even he might be the weirdest one to me. He has a girl he works with who is clearly into him but he keeps focusing on the same girl for ten years.
Kizuki deciding to return to swimming is great. I think it’s a good decision for himself even though it’s scary. But it seems he’s only doing it to try and get Mizuho back. I think that’s my biggest issue with this show is that it’s presented as a somewhat realistic and grounded story. But I can’t see people acting the way many of the people act in this show. To be fair to Mizuho it doesn’t seem like she’s done much to promote this behavior, they just can’t move on for some reason.
I did some research and the manga of this series ended in thirteen volumes. The first season of this show covered seven volumes so I don’t see why we couldn’t wrap up the story this season. There’s only three episodes left though and I don’t see how we can reach a conclusion that fast, not satisfactorily at least. But since this whole story has been unsatisfactory maybe that’s what it’s going to go for.
