Review: Haha You Clowns “Improv”
Overview
Tristan gets immersed in a new hobby.
Our Take
You can always tell when writers, etc., are in and around Hollywood or NYC(less so) when you inevitably get episodes of a series that are show biz adjacent, in this case, improv. It’s an easy go-to especially for writers because a lot of show biz writers get their start or are currently in improv attempting to work on their stage craft so as to take that next step in their careers.
I don’t know what Tristan’s motives are, but he nearly goes Wayne Brady this week in his latest hobby that offers up a Click like tale of vampires, mini-golf, and more. As a result we get one of the more advantageous episodes of the show’s first season and a hell of a way to wrap what has been an otherwise very successful season for Adult Swim. We’ll get into a full season wrap next week, but if Haha You Clowns isn’t on your radar this late in the game then it really should be.
This week’s episode definitely showcases Joe Cappa’s more macabre tendencies when it comes to his past collection of animated shorts with Haha You Clowns’ season finale featuring elements of horror, violence, and mystery that Joe definitely likes to lean into from time to time. “Improv” helps season one go out with a bang and will have viewers begging for more which, don’t worry, there’s plenty more on the way.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
