Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft Season 2 Trailer Confirms December Return
Netflix has officially released the first trailer for the second and final season of its animated action-adventure series, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. The series, which continues the story arc from the “Survivor Trilogy” of video games, is set to premiere on December 11 on the streaming platform.
The Race for Ancient Relics
The new season promises higher stakes and a globetrotting mission for the legendary archaeologist, Lara Croft (once again voiced by Marvel veteran Hayley Atwell). The official logline for Season 2 reveals a new, world-threatening threat:
“Lara races across the globe to uncover ancient African relics before a techno-visionary bent on playing god uses them to unleash worldwide destruction.”
Specifically, Lara’s thrilling new adventure begins when she discovers a trail of stolen African Orisha masks. These artifacts hold “dark secrets and a power that defies logic,” potentially a divine power. The mission will force her to confront super-powered enemies who have gained supernatural abilities through these relics, as she dodges the machinations of a dangerous and enigmatic billionaire.
Lara Gets a Team
A major thematic element of Season 2 will be Lara’s journey from a “lone wolf” adventurer to accepting help from her friends. The trailer confirms the return of two key figures from the “Survivor Trilogy” of games:
-
Sam Nishimura (voiced by Karen Fukuhara of The Boys), Lara’s best friend.
-
Jonah Maiava (voiced by Earl Baylon), her loyal companion.
Other returning and new cast members include Allen Maldonado as Zip, Richard Armitage as Charles, Zoe Boyle as Camilla, Nolan North as Conrad, and Ming-Na Wen as Eva.
The series is produced by Legendary Television with animation services provided by Powerhouse Animation (Castlevania, Skull Island). Tasha Huo returns as the showrunner.
