English Dub Review: A Star Brighter Than the Sun “Sun-Shower”
Overview
Kamishiro is selected as one of the main cast members for a class play version of “The Wizard of Oz”. Struggling with his lines, he turns to Sae for help. As they rehearse, they make a promise to go see a movie together during summer break. On the big day, the class’s performance is going smoothly until Sae suddenly bursts onto the stage.
Our Take
Picking up from the previous episode, Sae and Kouki continue to navigate their growing connection amid playful misunderstandings and everyday school life. From the school festival to the stage performance, the episode highlights their bond, showcasing moments of care, protectiveness, and mutual support, with Sae gaining confidence in expressing herself and Kouki stepping in whenever friends are threatened.
At the same time, it manages to highlight supporting characters like Ayukawa, Sui, and Kagawa, whose presence adds depth and charm without overshadowing the central relationship between Sae and Kouki. Ayukawa’s quiet, observant nature introduces subtle emotional complexity, while the show’s framing preserves the focus on Sae and Kouki. Moments of social awkwardness, gentle jealousy, and shy attempts at connection feel authentic, with Sae gradually gaining confidence and Kouki becoming increasingly expressive about his feelings.
Overall, this episode delivers a charming, character-driven mix of romance, comedy, and gentle drama, as Sae and Kouki take small but meaningful steps toward each other through shared experiences, playful misunderstandings, and acts of bravery. Moments like the school festival, stage performance, and supportive interactions with friends highlight their growing emotional connection and natural chemistry, all while maintaining a wholesome and engaging tone. With its blend of lighthearted humor, tender affection, and anticipation for their “not-a-date” movie outing, the episode maintains a natural, heartfelt rhythm that keeps the story engaging without revealing major plot developments.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
