English Dub Review: Tougen Anki “Mikado, Like Gate of the Gods”

Overview:

The boys have time to go to a local festival, and Shiki meets someone mysterious.

Our Take:

I thought we were getting a week off before the second cour started, but it’s a good thing I looked. I’ll admit I was disappointed to see it was back already because, as you may have noticed, this hasn’t been my favorite show this year. But I will say that I’m intrigued to see where this second half might go because the first episode laid out some interesting plot details, and no, I’m not just talking about Shiki getting to see boobs. He had to get his blood drawn, and like everyone else in this show, the doctor had gigantic tits and noticed that Shiki was staring and showed them to him; she even offered to take his virginity!

It seemed like everything was going well for Shiki because he and his classmates had to be in disguise now. Shiki met a potential friend while in disguise, but we learned that he’s a Momotarou in disguise. Now we have a potential Romeo and Juliet situation minus the romance. They went to a movie together, and of course, the theme of the movie was friends having to fight each other. I like the “Undercover” theme so far, and maybe this second half will be better than the first.
