Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake’ Season 2 Gets Start Date For HBO MAX
Fans of the Adventure Time universe have reason to celebrate as HBO Max has officially renewed the critically acclaimed spin-off series, Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake, for a second season which is slated to drop on October 23rd. Following the first season’s massive success and perfect Rotten Tomatoes score, the continuation was greenlit, ensuring that Fionna and Cake’s multiverse-hopping adventures are far from over.
While the initial season had a definitive and emotionally resonant ending, tying up the character arcs for Fionna, Cake, and the now-reformed Simon Petrikov, the door was left wide open for a new set of adventures.
The new season is expected to double down on the concepts of the multiverse and the infinite possibilities within the Adventure Time canon. Season 1 concluded with Fionna and Cake’s universe becoming a legally recognized part of the multiverse, no longer dependent on the Ice King’s subconscious. This new status quo means their world—and its new magical inhabitants—is now vulnerable to threats from other dimensions.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
