English Dub Review: Plus-Sized Elf “The Affectionate Dog and the Dark Roast Plant”
Overview
Elfuda succumbs to temptation once again and gets some fries, but a doggone puppy runs up and steals them!
Our Take
Elfuda’s latest craving leads her to a fast food stop, only to have her fries stolen by a Puppy in a surprise chase sequence. What seems like wacky hijinks turns out to be a cute moment between her and Laika.
Meanwhile, Tomoatsu seeks help for a withering plant, turning to Kusahanada (A Dryad/Plant girl) for a solution. Grateful for her assistance, he offers freshly roasted coffee beans, which the group samples together. However, a single sip sends Kusahanada into a wild transformation where comical chaos ensues…
Overall, this episode leans into its wacky humor and unexpected twists in ways I couldn’t have ever predicted, delivering both lighthearted moments and wild surprises. Kusahanada takes the spotlight in a way that’s both absurd and memorable, while Laika’s and Elfuda’s early misadventure added heart to both characters. With a final scene teasing the arrival of a mysterious new individual, the story sets the stage for what could be a very intriguing turn for the last two episodes of this season.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
