English Dub Review: The Apothecary Diaries “The Dancing Ghost”

Overview:

Concubine Lishu reports sightings of a ghost in the baths in her pavilion. Maomao goes to investigate.

Our Take(Spoilers):

I love these fun mystery episodes that can be wrapped up in one episode. Lishu saw a ghost while she was in her bath, but as we have learned, many of these supernatural things often have pretty natural explanations. It was no different here, but I’ll admit the explanation went over my head a little bit. It had something to do with mold being in the storage room, among other things. Lishu wasn’t seeing a ghost, but she had a mirror nearby that reflected things that made it seem like a ghostly individual was there.

Lishu deserves to be treated better than she is. All of her ladies in waiting seem to treat her like garbage. I understand she’s one of the younger concubines, but it’s not her fault. The last time we had an episode that was focusing on her she was the target of someone trying to poison her. I don’t know why people seem to hate her so much but it was nice to see her stand up for herself. One of her ladies in waiting attempted to throw away something that was important to her but she wouldn’t let them. Jinshi was very upset with some of the ladies and I think something is brewing with him now.
