English Dub Review: My Hero Academia: Vigilantes “I’m Here”
Overview:
Koichi is convinced he’ll never manage to become a hero until he meets someone with an odd take on justice.
Our Take:
This will be an interesting road for me. I’ve read every chapter of My Hero Academia, but the first few chapters of Vigilantes are all I’ve read. It will be fun to watch and not know everything when it comes to the MHA universe. This was a fun first episode, and I look forward to seeing these characters grow. It was interesting to see Deku’s mom get helped by Koichi, and we got an appearance from Aizawa. Other than the occasional cameo, though, I think this series separates itself pretty well.
When I first started reading Vigilantes, I didn’t think I liked the characters very much and stopped reading. But that was years ago, and my tastes have changed, and I love this universe, so I think this will be a more enjoyable experience than the first time. The first episode gave us just enough to entice us. Aizawa was always considered more of a “street-level” hero, so I can’t wait to see how he gets mixed up with this group. I like Koichi and Pop-Step, but Knuckleduster feels too much like a walking trope at the moment, but we’ll see.

There's got to be some kind of twist that's going to happen with this. I don't know if they're setting up an April Fool's joke now or what's going on, but it seems too strange that they'd suddenly reverse on doing a fourth and fifth season after the show was already renewed and they were even just talking about working on those seasons like a couple months ago or something. Or maybe the two episodes yet to release will secretly somehow each be like a "season" in themselves?
