English Dub Review: My Happy Marriage “Dream Tidings”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
While Kiyoka’s unit investigates a strange demon, the Gifted Communion makes a ruthless move. Miyo enters a foreboding dream where a young Usui awaits.
Our Take:
It would be a sigh of relief if everything that has happened in the previous episodes were just one big dream. But alas, it wasn’t, and regarding this week’s episode, it will grow more into a nightmare from here on out. The reason is that Usui’s plan is starting to come full circle, and Takahita’s vision has now become a reality, with the snowy weather signalizing what could be the end of this happy marriage. As Kiyoka’s unit deciphers more into the cause of the Grotesqueries, Miyo gets caught in hot water as she attempts to prevent Takahita’s vision from coming to fruition. Unfortunately, she discovers that fate can’t be rewritten when Arata, her trusted cousin, seizes Kiyoka for treason.
“Dream Tidings” shows signs that this is where things start coming to a head as we’re nearing the end of the second season, and it unsurprisingly delivered on both fronts. In addition to Miyo’s potential sacrifice to defeat the driver’s Grotesquerie form, Arata’s surprising action toward Kiyoka also provided a shock that’ll likely draw a wedge between Miyo and her trusted family. Plus, what Arata did to separate Kiyoka from Miyo made me hope that he gets fired from his job as Miyo’s “protector” or, at the very least, receives a good old-fashioned beating from Kiyoka once Usui’s plan is foiled. Whenever I have emotions like this, it shows just how much I’ve been enjoying this season regarding Kiyoka and Miyo’s relationship. While it may not reach the sentimental heights of the previous season, it still demonstrates that a show involving the characters’ strong and charismatic romantic chemistry worth rooting for can still engage viewers like me, regardless of its overall quality.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
