English Dub Review: I Left My A-Rank Party to Help My Former Students Reach the Dungeon Depths! “Mission”

Overview (Spoilers Below):
Clover goes house-hunting, and Simon tries to bring Yuke back by offering to grant his lifelong dream.

Our Take:
Clover’s progress has continued to impress after completing their sponsorship quest in Qualto.  But, of course, it wasn’t without a few bumps in the road that almost cost them their lives.  The girls have proven they can protect themselves from even the toughest of enemies, but that hasn’t stopped Yuke from being concerned about their safety, especially when Achromatic Darkness is within their reach.  It also doesn’t help that Thunder Pike is still attempting to get Yuke to rejoin to avoid getting demoted, even if it means venturing into Achromatic Darkness to do so.  Speaking as a casual viewer, it wouldn’t be so difficult for Simon to get Yuke to reconsider if he’d stop being such a freaking asshole all the time, but regarding this episode, it looks like that won’t happen anytime soon.  On the other hand, I’m a sucker for seeing jerks like Simon get the karma they deserve, so I’m willing to let this slide for now.
“Mission” slows the action down a bit by exploring Clover living in a two-story base, which is enough to emphasize more of the team’s chemistry outside their quests.  In addition to his fear of the awkwardness of living with the girls, Yuke also expresses his concern about losing his teammates after being assigned by Benwood to investigate Achromatic Darkness.  But, of course, the girls are willing to risk their lives to help Yuke achieve his dream of venturing through the world’s most challenging dungeon.  As usual, it proves Yuke deserves friends like them instead of pouty Simon and Thunder Pike.  Even if the show’s sentimentality was pretty mawkish, I can still admit that Clover is another adventuring party I can get behind because of their friendship.  With the addition of its newest party member, that might not change anytime soon.
