English Dub Review: Demon Lord 2099 “The Lord’s Return”

Overview:

Thanks to Mag Rosanta’s plot, the goddess Meldia has manifested by using Hizuki as a vessel. Veltol battles Meldia in an attempt to save Hizuki. Meanwhile, Machina faces a young girl wearing a visor. What will happen to Akihabara City and the conflict between Electric Town and Magic Town?

Our Take:

Veltol might be one of my favorite recent anime characters. The way Meldia and him spent the first five minutes of their fight talking shit on each other was gold. I suppose he would learn how to trash talk with the best of them being not only a demon lord but a modern-day streamer.

I’m also a huge fan of enemies becoming friends and you can’t find bigger enemies than the demon lord and hero. But after their previous encounter, the hero knew that Veltol needed help and came to his aid. To complicate matters, it turns out that the goddess Meldia is in love with the hero Gram. With his help, the fight was brought to a swift end, and I was left confused.

I loved this show in the beginning and I still found it enjoyable but I couldn’t help but feel like some major parts were skipped. Not only that but Hizuki seems like a very important character and we barely got any time with her at all. I would like a second season if for nothing else than to get more time with enjoyable characters even if I didn’t quite understand the plot for the second half.
