English Dub Review: Trillion Game “The Flower Ceremony In Kabukicho”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
Haru, Gaku, and Rinrin continue their plan to scam a flower company into buying their fake AI website by getting a large amount of sales while also moonlighting as Hosts.
OUR TAKE
We’re back to Trillion Game where we are dangerously close to being…halfway done with the series. Yeah, that’s right, this is one of those six month shows, and so far it is not really feeling like one that actually needs this kind of space. We’re at…what, the ninth episode? Over a third into the season? And look at what we’re doing, making a fake artificial intelligence in order to sell to a flower company before they find out it’s actually just a person and not a chatbot and then use that money to make an ACTUAL chatbot. I’ve covered a lot of anime for this site that are incredibly niche in focus, just recently I covered Bartender, which you may be able to guess what it centered on. My point is that I’m sure that this kind of story appeals to SOMEONE out there, probably anybody who is looking for inspiration in their own quest to get rich quick in a manner that doesn’t involve drugs or porn or going to graduate school. But for me, the guy who has to come up with hundreds of words a week per episode to find something to talk about, it’s just not very interesting, at least not right now.
But yeah, our three man team is still on the fake AI game, along with doing some side hustles as hosts in a Host Club, which was what the cold open for this episode led into. Incidentally, that started with another flash forward that mentioned Gaku is now one of the top richest people in the world, which I have to assume is the show being self aware about how overly complicated and boring the story is getting so they need to remind us this is HYPOTHETICALLY leading somewhere interesting. Problem is, I also have stopped finding this potential mystery about where Haru went at all interesting either, mainly because Gaku is too much of a cinnamon roll shy boy to ever think he is in any way responsible for Haru’s disappearance, and he’s not showing any remorse or sadness about it so clearly Haru’s not dead or in trouble. Becoming super rich is just not an interesting goal, Haru’s disappearance in the present isn’t interesting, and the “present day” story itself also isn’t interesting. I’m getting very bored. For the love of god, pick up the pace a bit and give me something to feel worth looking forward to.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
